How to train a chatbot on your website content

Training a chatbot is mostly about preparing good content. Here is how to point Buddy at your site, fix gaps and keep answers accurate.

"Training" sounds technical, but for a website chatbot it mostly means giving it good content and then fixing the gaps it shows you.

Step 1: give it your content

Add your website address and Buddy reads your pages, following your sitemap and respecting your robots rules. You can also upload PDFs, Word files and CSV sheets (a spreadsheet of questions and answers becomes FAQs).

Step 2: write FAQs for your top questions

Open the FAQ editor and write the ten questions customers ask most. Add alternative phrasings: "Do you deliver?", "Is there home delivery?". A curated answer is returned as written, with no AI involved.

Step 3: test it like a customer

Use Test Buddy in the dashboard. Ask questions the way real people do, with typos and short phrases. Each answer shows the source it came from.

Step 4: close the gaps

Every question Buddy could not answer lands in the unanswered queue, sorted by how often it was asked. Turn the top ones into FAQs with one click. Do this for a few minutes each week and your answers improve steadily.

Keep it fresh

When your prices or policies change, update the page or the FAQ and re-sync. Buddy skips unchanged pages, so a re-sync is quick.
